LILLIAN CHAN - Group Management Trainee (Intake 2022)
To me, Nan Fung Group really cares. What attracted me to the company at the first place are the unique, innovative values it upholds. During my first rotation at the Business Innovation team, we have been devising a lot of interesting projects that aim to create real social impact to care for the community. The SEWIT sustainability framework, which I have the chance to engage closely with, is an immense opportunity for me to gain hands-on experience in creating shared value to different stakeholders of society and to the Nan Fung Group. Quantifying the efforts of these social and environmental initiatives is an untapped area for me, and the learning process allowed me to construct a solid knowledge base for social impact measurement to visualise our work and avoid over-claiming. Looking ahead, I am set to take part in more exciting projects, including Nan Fung Group’s flagship AIRSIDE and The Mills. The MT programme brings to the table fruitful and dynamic exposure through constant rotations, cross-team collaborations, and ongoing mentorship from different parties. Throughout the programme, I am given the opportunity to broaden my horizons with guidance and exchange ideas with the senior management. So far, I have been lucky to know a lot of amazing people and friends, and I look forward to seeing you as the next buddy in the family!
SERENA CHAN - Group Management Trainee (Intake 2022)
“Care for others as well as you would care for yourself ” - This was the quote that drew my attention when I was applying for the Group Management Trainee Program, and this belief has also set the Nan Fung Group apart.
I kick-started my journey in Nan Fung Group with the Business Innovation Department, and I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to take part in several impactful projects. For instance, I work closely with our Asset Management Team to develop ESG-related tenant engagement strategies. Apart from the commercial parts, I am able to empower the community and help build the city's resilience through joining Nan Fung Group’s In Time Of programs (curated by Business Innovation - Culture and Community Engagement Team!). I particularly love how my daily work drives changes and makes a positive impact on people’s lives. What I have learnt thus far is that in order to add value to the team, the company and the community, one must be equipped with an innovative mindset and the ability to fit in different environments.
Moreover, Nan Fung Group has gifted me with countless memorable relationships. I met my mentor who shared valuable industry insights with me; I met colleagues who feel passionate about their tasks, and their professionalism for the job has always been a motivator to me; I also met friends that support me through thick and thin - these are something very heart-warming and I am blessed to be part of the Nan Fung family. SINCERE PANG - Group Management Trainee (Intake 2021)
Real estate is an interplay of art and science¬ — an interesting remark I had from a colleague during orientation week. This turns out to be quite true once I kick-started Nan Fung Group Management Trainee Program. In two years’ time, MTs would be exposed to various functions along the real estate value chain, going from property development, asset management, sales, marketing, community engagement, to property investment and several more. After a year at Nan Fung Group, I can see that the real estate industry is where diversified talents come together and collaborate. Whether you come from an arts, science, engineering or business background, you can always find your place here. The diversified experience offered in this program allows one to build a holistic understanding of the industry. Meanwhile, you can also learn more about your strengths and weaknesses, and discover where your passion lies.
Like many others, I was attracted to Nan Fung Group Management Trainee Program because of its fascinating real estate projects such as The Mills and AIRSIDE. Shortly after joining the company, I noticed that Nan Fung Group also places considerable emphasis on sustainability and community engagement. While striving for top environmental standards in construction and design, it undertakes internal policies and initiatives that encourage sustainable living. Furthermore, Nan Fung Group collaborates with a broad range of local organizations to better understand community needs at its project neighborhoods and work towards creating inclusive spaces for all. At times I volunteer at community events and am proud to be part of this mindful company.
Last but not least, Nan Fung Group’s open office culture and the ample learning opportunities available definitely add up to the rewarding experience here. During my first rotation at the property development team, I learnt how to carry out property valuation, build financial models and comprehend land leases. With no prior experience in real estate, many questions pop up in my mind and they were all kindly answered by friendly colleagues. Stimulating, two-way dialogue takes place in ‘tutorial’ sessions and we are often encouraged to put forward ideas and voice out concerns. Throughout the year, MTs are involved in various project meetings, site visits and presentations. There is no short of opportunities for one to learn and grow.

RACHEL LI - Group Management Trainee (Intake 2021)
It has been an eye-opening and fruitful journey since I joined Nan Fung Group in August 2021. Throughout the year, I have rotated to most of the Hong Kong property departments and have gained a fuller picture of the whole value chain. Each rotation has given me broad exposure in learning respective domain knowledge and its value-adding contributions to overall business. Some remarkable experiences include giving client presentation in asset management, understanding the role of frontline staff in property management, and working in a construction site office. I believe no fresh graduates could have such all-rounded experiences unless you become a management trainee.
MTs are also invited to conduct research and present our findings to top management on macro topics such as Gen Z trends and property landscape. The training program is very comprehensive in terms of rotation schedule, career guidance and mentorship support. Last but not least, the biggest thing that caught my attention after joining Nan Fung Group is the company’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement. This mindset is deeply rooted in our company culture and we try to incorporate this element into every project. My time at Nan Fung Group has been equally challenging and rewarding. Challenging, because everything felt new and unfamiliar; rewarding, because I realized that with unfamiliarity comes the opportunity to learn and grow. Having been with Nan Fung Group for over 2 years, I’ve rotated through 11 departments across the real estate value chain – all of which have sharpened my awareness of Hong Kong's unique property landscape and enabled me to adopt a more analytical take on real-life business issues. l am truly blessed to be working alongside passionate, knowledgeable colleagues who are always eager to help and have done everything within their abilities to equip me for the long journey ahead. I had never thought that I would end up in real estate or property development; on paper, my undergrad education couldn't be more irrelevant to the industry. But I am glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone and applied for a position at Nan Fung Group : entering into unfamiliar territory could be nerve-wracking, but the encouragement and guidance from supervisors and colleagues made me more confident and certain about pursuing a career here. Working at Nan Fung Group, I feel like what I do day-to-day creates meaningful impact. NATALIE WONG - Analyst, International Property (Intake 2019)
What initially drew me to Nan Fung Management Trainee Program, and keeps me excited about Nan Fung, is the immense responsibility as well as the enormous support given by the company. As a group management trainee, I feel I am a crucial part of my team and my work indeed matters. This has boosted my motivation for work constantly.
My first attachment in Nan Fung Group was Property Development Department. I have been involved in every aspect of the team, from conducting market research and benchmarking to performing valuation for residential buildings, commercial centers, and the like. This experience has allowed me to build up solid property knowledge in Hong Kong property sector. Even though I may be the most junior in this department, I was encouraged to voice my opinions and suggest solutions during the meeting, the team will always provide feedbacks and guide me by asking critical questions. In Nan Fung, everyone is expected to actively contribute so as to achieve overall success for the project. One of the best parts of the program is the strong sense of support from the mentors and coordinators. With strong focus on leadership development, we are given ample opportunities to expose to successful leaders at Nan Fung.
It is not uncommon for us to spend time with senior management. I have been fortunate enough to be interacting with seasoned professionals in different trainings and events. I can always see their passion about their work - they genuinely care about team performance and provide clear directions for the team. Having conversations with management team who are responsible for formulating business strategies are inspirational.
I was supported by the group over the past two years. SARA LEE - Senior Officer, Asset Management (Intake 2019)
Two years ago, I was a surveying student and dreamed of developing my long-term career in the property developer sector. Receiving the offer from Nan Fung has been the most grateful and surprising highlight in my life.
Having graduated from the Group Management Trainee Program, I would describe the past two years as fruitful and motivated, as I received various chances to be exposed to practical work and people with different backgrounds. The well-structured program provides me with an extensive overview of the property sector, including land acquisition, residential sales and leasing. Apart from rotating in core Hong Kong property departments, I can also have a taste of job functions related to China and International properties, the Group CEO’s office, as well as The Mills - a unique revitalized project and also the root of Nan Fung.
As a fresh graduate, both industry-related knowledge and interpersonal skills are crucial for me to become a more capable and sensible person. The program offers me diverse opportunities which boost my confidence and encourage me to take up more challenges. One distinct feature of our program is the exposure to the top management. Frequent meetings with the top management have been astonishing and exceeded my expectations before entering Nan Fung. I could not be more thankful to communicate with experienced experts in the industry as they have given me precious insights that shape me into a better person and broaden my horizons. Another reason I enjoy working here are the people. The program enables me to interact with people in Nan Fung, from top management to frontline staff. The friendly and supportive atmosphere has motivated me to look into every perspective and strive for consensus upon decision making.
After two years of rotation life, I found my passion and landed at the Asset Management Department. I am mainly responsible for retail leasing of AIRSIDE, a landmark commercial project in Kai Tak, set to open at the end of 2022. Being involved since the pre-opening of this massive project, I am able to gain a wide exposure in various work in the retail leasing field. My experience as a Group Management Trainee has supported me in connecting and understanding the roles of different departments involved in the development project. I could not imagine how excited I will be upon the grand opening of this impressive project.
Joining Nan Fung as a Group Management Trainee has been a big step for enhancing my professional knowledge and polishing my interpersonal skills. GARY CHAN - Senior Project Officer, Construction (Intake 2016)
Nan Fung Group MT programme offers me the opportunity to appreciate the value-chain of property development from planning, operation and construction to market launch stages while being trained to become a managerial personale. It equips me with strong interpersonal skills and technical construction knowledge which are essential for a Building Engineer.
Previously, I had my rewarding trainings in contractor as well as sales and marketing aspects. This comprehensive experience allowed me to work in 3 residential projects with different scale and target buyers. One of my most memorable experiences was the sales office visit with top management and joint venture partner. With their sophisticated experiences on show flat design and understandings on buyers’ needs, I learnt how little changes in the show flat arrangements can help attract the potential buyers.
The previous rotations enabled me to work with clients efficiently by applying my knowledge in construction. With substantial in-house trainings, I learnt the way to motivate our subcontractors, cooperate with colleagues and present to managements.
After a 24-month training, I discovered that the programme is unique for each person. Our coach from training department designed the programme based on my opinion, strengths and weaknesses.

CHERRY HO - Associate, Nan Fung Trinity (HK) Limited (Intake 2015)
It’s my sixth year at Nan Fung Group and I am always thankful for my younger self of making the right choice in landing a job here.
My first attachment was Property Development Department, where I analyzed and performed valuations on land and properties ranging from residential, commercial buildings to factories. Colleagues were generous to guide me on various projects which I built a good foundation and knowledge on HK property market with some analytical skills.
The other memorial experience is my working at Group CEO's Office which I later stationed at after the MT program. It is challenging yet rewarding. I got the chance to collaborate and lead cross-functional department initiatives and support top management at Group CEO level to participate in a diversity of strategic projects ranging from strategic level acquisition deals and investments, system and policy set-ups to organizing corporate events. Making a positive impact to these strategic projects is never easy, as a new joiner at that time, I am grateful that supervisor and colleagues were confident in me and very supportive which helped accelerate my learning curve.
The privilege of being a MT at Nan Fung Group often gives me the chance to gain great exposures, breakthrough my boundaries and groom myself to be a leader at early stage of my career. I was very lucky to have taken some leadership roles after the program. When working at the Mills Fabrica, I was responsible for help set up a venture fund of our Group, leading the investment team to look for new investment opportunities and do financial analysis, being guest speakers at various events as well as meeting business partners and clients independently during business trips. And now, I am taking on another investment role at NF Trinity, further sharpen my analytical skills to be a financial professional. I am truly grateful that my supervisors and management trusted me and gave me the flexibility to work at various departments for my career development after the program.
Throughout the Group MT program and beyond, I felt good support along the way. I get to understand my strengths and weaknesses more via different trainings, exposures and coaching. Supervisors and mentor here are all very friendly and always open for discussion whenever I seek advices from them. Management is also supportive and flexible to help with my personal/ career development during my transitioning period at various departments after the program, which also helps direct me towards the right career path.

DUDU HONG - Associate, Nan Fung Trinity (HK) Limited (Intake 2013)
As a Group MT in the Investment Department of Nan Fung Group, I rotated to the Public Investment Section, the Private Investment Section and several other relevant teams.
During my attachment at the Public Investment Section, the hands-on work in the team is challenging and I enjoy it very much. I need do my own equity research, attend events listening to analysts' stock pitch and management's roadshows. I frequently discuss my findings with my colleagues and they usually offer kind and helpful advice based on their experience. I have learned quantitative skills, such as building financial models, and also soft skills, such as how to talk to senior staff from different parties.
The people in the company are very nice. My supervisor guides me in both practical professional knowledge and personal development. I have also been assigned to a mentor who is in charge of the Finance Department. My mentor is very experienced in the industry and he is very accessible to me. We meet from time to time and he is always willing to advise me on work, career development and also work-life balance.
The Group MT Program of Nan Fung suits my personality very much. I always want to learn new things and am willing to take exciting challenges. Hope you also find Nan Fung a right place for your career development!
